The Curtain Falls on Narnia: The Early Chronicles

From February 24-26, 2017, Riverfront Theatre Company Senior Ensemble (with a few Juniors, actually) staged our first production of Narnia: The Early Chronicles.
This was an original adaptation of the first two books in the Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, and The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Our school show was sold out, with over 400 students and chaperones in attendance for our Friday morning performance.  Over the remaining three shows, we had approximately 325 people attend performances.
The show involved 39 students and over a dozen crew volunteers. It ran for two and a half hours plus intermission.
This was our 30th production – and, as has been a recent trend with RTC, it was an original adaptation created especially for the RTC students to perform – taking into account our need for a large cast.
We have received many compliments on our performance through email and online comments, as well as in person after the shows. Several of the students have said that this show will always be special to them, or has been their favourite so far.
It’s hard to let go of a show that you’ve been working on so long. These students have been rehearsing every Saturday from September to produce Narnia, and it’s been realy special. However, rehearsals have also been happening for Princesses Aplenty, which opens at the end of May, and from this Saturday, we’ll be bending all our efforts in that direction!
Thank you to everyone who made Narnia possible – through participation, attendance, sponsorship, volunteering, costume loans, and spreading the word for others to enjoy the show!  We appreciate your involvement, and hope to see you in May with Princesses Aplenty!
